85 DOUGLASS STREET

Developer: Urban Standard Capital.

  • Three-story boutique condominium building

For 85 Douglass, our new boutique condo situated in the heart of Brooklyn, our in-house design team took inspiration from a trend known as Minimaluxe. Characterized by fluid forms, subtle contrast, and wide open floor plans, this aesthetic was born out of the desire to feel calm and uplifted in our living spaces.

As always with a Jessica Peters Team property design, Jessica’s & Rita’s emphasis was put on modern luxury coupled with a wonderland for the senses. Every fabric, candle, and decorative object was carefully selected to be evocative of this sense of understated opulence and tranquility. They wanted the spaces to feel sophisticated – yet comfortable.

With this particular aesthetic in mind, the design team worked painstakingly with the developer to

  • carefully select materials that not only complemented the architecture, but also payed homage to the neighborhood
  • create balance and bring out the best qualities of each material used in the design
  • focus on durability and timelessness
  • use modern sensibilities as an inspiration to create something completely new and fresh

Specifically, the developer chose a classic palette of white and gray in the timeless finishes of chrome hardware & honed stone. With these ageless touches, their modern application was further highlighted, making for stunning visuals throughout the home. Every effort was made to mirror the historic neighborhood feel while bringing it up to today’s way of living. In other words, keeping with what buyers seek out in a brownstone townhouse but with sleek design and modern conveniences.
